Françoise Nielly

French painter Françoise Nielly has a huge influence in not only my art, but also in how I approach my everyday life. Through her urban-culture inspired vibrant painting, Nielly makes a statement with every piece.

Her work is to me is flawless. 'Expressive, exhibiting a brute force, a fascinating vital energy. Oil and knife combine to sculpt her images from a material that is, at the same time, biting and incisive, charnel and sensual. Whether she paints the human body or portraits, the artist takes a risk: her painting is sexual, her colors free, exuberant, surprising, even explosive'

Nielly was introduced to art at a very young age; she learned construction of a painting and discipline from her architect father. Her bio mentions that in her life there was no room for flaws or errors; her dad was harsh, demanding and critical. She appreciates all he taught her, but she liked deconstruction and crazyness.  Her father reminds me how society is today, with all the high and strict expectations. Graduate high school, go to college, get a real job, get married, have kids... Blah blah, I hate that. For some people, it is truly a dream to accomplish those things, and that is perfect. However those guidelines aren't for everyone; I, like a lot of others am attending college without truly knowing why, I can't even decide on a major! And, no kids for me thanks, having three younger brothers is enough.
I truly admire Nielly because she has been true to herself. Even some of her older paintings, which are more realistic ( below), show her rebellious personality. Breaking the rules by not blending colors, unveiling her strokes, leaving inconsistent thickness of paint.I too need to stay true, break the rules and continue doing things as I see fit. I encourage everyone to follow their own definition of perfection. Live the life that you want to live, paint your own breathtaking masterpiece.      Check out Francoise Nielly's work at http://www.francoise-nielly.com/

My masterpiece is a work in progress. I am still learning things about myself daily, and continue to believe that one day I will do something great and become someone's inspiration.

take a chance at the gardens

A great inspiration for the week came from my visit to Garden of the Gods.
The amount of natural beauty in this place is absurd. Everything from the impressive color combinations of burnt umber and sienna's to the incredible rock formations. I suggest anyone who has the chance to visit, do it asap.
This is just a little taste of the many pictures I got at this beautiful location:)

If you can't already tell, photographs were so much fun! Regardless of all the kids running around, and the odd looks I got from them.

Don't let these pictures fool you though. Even though the experience was fun, this was hard work. I don't know how actors, models, and photographers can do this all the time. This doesn't even compare to the forty selfies I take to post a good one to insta. I wish I was more like James Franco, who's Instagram is full of cheesy, careless pictures if you didn't know.

This is only the second or third time I have done a small photo shoot, so my experience is at zero here but  I want to let people know that it is okay to do things out of their comfort zone. Every once in a while, it's nice to break loose and do something fun. I have a super shy personality, but that has never held me back from pursuing the things I love. I have enjoyed being outgoing in my own ways; impressing people through art, dance, and theatre, things that I love.

Take chances people!!!!!      I couldn't be this happy in life if I had not taken all the chances I have. From making a fool of myself on stage (in a fat-suit) playing the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland my sophomore year in high school, to letting my best friend cut, and ruin a vintage dress for my show last year.
Chances I am willing to take over and over again to gain such great memories.

Take chances to meet new people. Lose the 'first impression' you have of them, and they will give you so much more in return. I have heard so many times how when people first met me, they thought I was someone completely different. I am not intimidating to talk to, or a snob, I'm not judgmental, or ignorant.
I am full of hopes, and dreams that I work toward every day. I keep away from bad influence, and always push for a good vibe. The people I keep close to, are ones that i trust and love. I am occasionally funny, and always approachable. I don't know how those that don't know me get it so confused?

Let someone in, without judging, and see the wonders that you've unlocked.
